Who We Are
We are a local body of believers from multiple backgrounds, and although we hail from different language groups, cultures and ethnicities, it is not these things that qualify us to be members of this local congregation called New Germany Baptist Church. What does qualify us to be members, men and women belonging to this congregation, is the fact that we are first and foremost saved, we are brothers and sisters in Christ, each one has a confession of faith, this means that each one has confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and has believed that God raised him from death, and each one is baptized.
Although our moral condition is not yet perfected, our desire and intention are to conduct ourselves in a manner that is fitting for “… the household of God, which is the church of the living God …” (1 Timothy 3:14-16). By God’s loving kindnesses, which are extended to us each, daily, through an individual living relationship with Christ, we walk the Christian by faith, in grace.
Our Mission Statement
“The specific purpose of this church is to glorify God. This is to be achieved through the salvation of the lost and the edification of believers.
The purpose of the church will be reflected in the public worship of God; the teaching and preaching of the Word of God; the evangelisation of New Germany, the highway area and the world; the observ¬ance of the ordinances of the church; the defence of the true Christian faith; the publication and distribution of fundamental Christian literature, and the education of youth.”
Our Leadership Team
Pastor Ian Mey
Ian Mey holds a BTh (Christ Seminary). Ian has been involved in church leadership since 1998 in various capacities. He currently serves as the pastor of New Germany Baptist Church (NGBC).
Ian is married to Wendy, they have three sons, three daughters in law and three granddaughters.
